It’s quite fitting that a combination of life transitions, procrastination, and general timing of creative processes have colluded to ensure that I debut The Therapist’s Coat on today, my birthday. Shoutout to my amazing mom and the three generations of women who raised me with love, compassion, and an occasional cookie to fall asleep.
Without further ado…
We proudly give you, The Therapist’s Coat!
I’m finding it hard to express how I feel in this moment and how to bring closure to an incredible 3 month journey. I feel proud, I feel energized, and I feel…happy. Most of all, I feel grateful for all of the people - their own stories, ideas, and ambitions - that this project has brought into my life.
Thanks to Augustin and Meaza, our vision of an unconventional, authentic, relatable, gender-neutral, accessible, and cozy piece of clothing that represents healing truly came to life. I am particularly proud of our interchangeable collar, which allows you to customize the coat using any piece of fabric.
Special shoutout to Pablo CiRCA for creating and capturing these beautiful photos. More to come soon on his own stories and portrait work.
The journey continues
Although the “making of” part of this particular project is over, the healing part is just beginning. At the heart of culture therapy is a desire to help all of us realize that each of us is a culture therapist…a uniquely creative individual who has the power to help those around us through art and relationship.
The healing part of The Therapist’s Coat journey is just beginning. For Act 1, we’ve launched a culture.therapist Instagram where we will be using this coat to celebrate the stories of real life culture therapists. Our own version of Humans of New York.
Follow us there and if you know of any artist / culture keeper we should spotlight, please let us know! Heck, it might even be you!
